It's certainly true here. I think I've mentioned that about half
of the students in most of my linguistics classes are English
majors, or Comsci, or are otherwise taking it for nonmajor
purposes. The hardcore students, those that study it for the
sake of studying it, tend to be... highly nonconformist :)
