If you are on Windows, you may have hit alt-shift, which switches
languages. Very interesting if you are using emacs remotely in
text-mode, and you have your charset set to UTF-8, and irritating as
Alt-Shift is all to easy to hit. Usually you can adjust language
settings by clicking the little country code in a box on the taskbar.
