This sounds quite a bit like the poetic counterpart to the music of
Anton Webern. The times on his Five Pieces for Orchestra, Op. 10, are
0:41, 0:30, 1:56, 0:30, and 0:54. The whole set lasts less than 5
minutes. His Symphony, Op. 21 lasts less than 10. He was writing around
the same time period...early 20th century.
