The first thing that came to mind when I saw the word <Valde's> in your
message was the Midieval Latin <Waldenses>. Sure enough, my American
Heritage Dictionary says the Waldenses were a Christian sect originating in
southern France in the 12th century, known in French as <Vaudois>. They
took their name from Peter Waldo, also known as Peter Valdo or Peter or
Pierre Valde`s (that's a grave accent). Perhaps <Valde's> is related to the
name Waldo, even if not to that particular Waldo?
