Go figure. But it is the most common Murkin pronunciation, as confirmed by MWC10: ['lan dZR ej] where R = American syllabic "r". They list plenty of other pronunciations as well, though, with nasalized [a], final [i], [Z] instead of [dZ], and final stress, as well as combinations thereof. But English French (or American, in this case) is always more or less fractured: "Mayday = m'aidez", "double entendre = double entente", "chaise longue = chaise lounge [lawndZ]", "vicar = cur\'e, curate = vicaire" (my favorite). -- John Cowan http://www.ccil.org/~cowan cowan@ccil.org You tollerday donsk?
