Well, since when I'm sick I tend to lie around on the "sofa" with a big box of
"kleenex" and a bottle of "aspirin", I wouldn't jump to that conclusion.
The Aussies do seem to have been doing more of it more recently, though. :)
However, there does seem to be an ongoing example over here in the
use of "TiVo" for any digital video recording technology - those
things that are properly called Personal Video Recorders (PVRs)
or Digital Video Recorders (DVRs) over here, and are apparently
called Video Disc Recorders (VDRs) in the UK. One advantage
"TiVo" seems to have over the TLA competition is that it has
already been verbed. "Did you see the Hillary interview Sunday night?"
"No, but I TiVo'ed it."
