I've posted this elsewhere, but I wanted to share with
CONLANG as well. I apologize if you've seen this.
I've created a first draft of a script for the
voiceless/gestural conlang, Dritok. For a refresher on
the phonology of Dritok:
The key to the script is available here:
An extended text (the first five lines of "The North
Wind and the Sun") is available here:
For those interested, here is the transliteration and
glossary for the text sample:
Notice in the transliteration below that each phonetic
portion is separated by .'s. Each of these segments is
written as a ligature within the script itself. Also,
each word or phrase that is connected to a gesture
with a = is written on a single vertical bar. Once
again, the gestures (capital letters) are to the left
of the bar; spoken portions to the right of the bar.
I'm considering making the Drushek (the speakers of
Dritok) "split-brained" to be able to read both sides
of the vertical bar simultaneously.
A transliteration of those lines:
V2&=sx:w.q't. s'.s' pr.np'. D5^Q5=V2&=zn.t'.z*
Those two, the Great Wind and the sun, with respect to
'their' strength were arguing.
P4=sx:w.q't. P4=D1>>s.t*.ql. Q1=zn.t'.z*. D4/Q5=D2
The Great Wind he said: "My strength is superior to
P4=pr.np' P4=D1>>s'.t*ql. Q1=zn.t'z*. D4/Q5=D2
The Sun he said: "My strength is superior to yours."
P4=tr'w.cq. V2&=D1>>xws.ql. P4=hr:.zp.th. I2>>lt'.q'.
A Drushek, the two of them saw, (he was) leaping along
P4=sx:w.q't. P4=D1>>s'.t*.ql. P4=pln.t'. tr'w.cq.
The Great Wind he said: His cloak, the Drushek he will
