Re: new relay

Several posts have asked for a clarification of the rules for the relay.
The prior participants all seem to feel that the rules are obvious and
everyone seems reluctant to provide a simple, concise and non-contradictory
list of rules. I don't understand why. Reference to Sally's page (RTFM?)
hasn't done it for me. The question of whether interlinears should/could be
provided is still unclear, at least to me. The "Rules" on Sally's page
state "A glossary is allowed, and/or an interlinear analysis.", but several
posts have suggested that interlinears shouldn't be provided. Depending on
the detail provided in an interlinear (My Shoebox interlinears would make
the translation pretty transparent, for example), it would seem that they
may give away too much. It also seems to me that a "smooth translation"
into English, if I understand this term correctly (Is this a technical term
peculiar to relays?), ought to be created but not passed to the next
participant. Should this "smooth translation" be passed to the relay
master? How are the results to be presented without this "smooth
translation". The rules are silent on this?

Could someone provide a simple description of the rule of this relay? Some
of us need to be beaten about the head with details before clarity sets in.

Stay curious,
David
