Well, Shavu`ot is always 50 days after the second day of Pesahh. The 49
days in between are known as Sefirat-ha`Omer, "the counting of the Omer".
a `omer is an ancient measurement of how much barley was brought to the
Temple in Jerusalem for Yom haNeif, "waving day", when the priests did a
ceremony with it.
in the Bible, Vayiqra' (Leviticus) 23:4-21 gives a ritual-centric
description of Pesahh, the Sefirah, and Shavu`ot. Shavu`ot is also known
in English as "the Feast of Weeks" (a translation from the Hebrew), due
to the counting of the "7 full weeks" before it.
Maybe it's a different "Pentecost"....
Another "Pascua"-type ambiguity?
