I think this is something you pick up, more than get taught or consciously learn. At least that's how it went for me. Quick guidelines: In your conlang line, separate each morpheme by a dash and each word by a space Underneath it put a morpheme by morpheme gloss. Make sure your gloss uses dashes and spaces in the same place as in your conlang; otherwise it can be confusing.
