Hey!
I'm very sorry that I couldn't participate here that much,
it's because I've just got back my computer yesterday
evening -- and it seems that my main HD is near to its end*)
That means that I have to spend EUR 700**) and buy a new
computer as soon as possible :-S
What I've read up to now, you said that it would be possible
to have two moons that have about the same gravitational
force as our moon when they are toghether about as big as
our moon.
Areca is supposed to be about 120% of the Earth's size, so
7,644 km equatorial diameter instead of 6,370. About its
weight I don't know, I don't even know the weight of the
earth. I only know that it's some 10^12 tons (Continental
system). The moon is much smaller than Earth, but I don'tk
now its diameter as well. So, assumed that one moon would
be roughly 3/4 as big as our moon and the other about 1/3
of our moon, together this woudl be 108.33% of our moon's
size (3/4 + 2/3 = (9 + 4)/12 = 13/12 = 108.33%). But as I
said, my conplanet is thought to be 1.2x bigger than earth.
Nevertheless, I'd like to manage that you can see both
moons with the naked eye, like our moon. Though I wouldn't
mind if the second moon would be only visible like Venus on
winter mornings/evenings, so just a smallish spot, but a
very bright one.
Hm, I really should look at Dr Viau's page again, also when
I really do it with one moon. I think the bits about moons
etc. I even have downloaded and banned on CD somewhere,
just like ~1.5 GB of other stuff, just in case my comp
breaks down completely during the next days/weeks ...
When there are two moons as described above that both affect
the tides, what would that mean for the life near the
oceans and the weather etc.? Or does Mrs Viau also cover
ecology regarding the effects of the moon(s)? Or can I find
more information on that elsewhere on the web?
And in case everything fails, you can still say "This
conworld comes with aboslutely no warranty. The prog...
conworld is as is." -- Nevertheless, this would really bug
me. When I do pseudo-science at all, things should be at
least near-to reasonable IMO.

*) Funny enough, the 10 years old, 820M HD I have in there
still works without problems! In the computer shop they said
I should get rid of that thing and then everything should run,
but exactly the opposite happened! Although everything was
jumpered correctly and all cables were plugged in their proper
places etc., the computer didn't do anything when I removed
the old secondary HD. My normal (seemingly broken) HD is about
5 years old now.
**) I know you can get comps for EUR 450, but the computer
comes without an OS then. I would install Linux on it,
but I still need some Windows apps for school, like e.g.
Visual Basic.
