Bear in mind that an unstable astronomical state can mean that it will "only"
last a few million years: at cultural and linguistic scales that is
effectively permanent.

Shayana, (where the builders of Cherani Station come from) has two moons. One
is big enough to show a disk and cause reasonably predictable tides. The
other is potato-shaped and has a very erratic orbit, which makes things
interesting for the local astrologers.

The big moon is also not tide-locked (or maybe harmonically tide-locked with a
ratio other than 1 to 1), so it visibly rotates as seen from Shayana... I'm
not sure what that does to the local mythology and astrology, but being
invaded by space aliens was a lot less philosophically traumatic for the
Shayanans than it would have been for humans at a similar tech level. *

* Note: tech level comparisons are tricky: human cultures and technology
evolved in a complex interaction of people with projectile weapons and fire,
while Shayanan cultures focused on fiber and subtler chemical reactions: when
the Imperials arrived the Shayanans had cuckoo clocks and sailing ships and
advanced polymer chemistry and polyceramics and applied genetics.
