In that instance (described below) the Jpn r sounds
cool maybe, but I think the Finnish r has a better
(rougher, more aggressive) sound all the time - if
that's what you're seeking. Most of the time, though,
Jpn r echoes in one's ear as if the speaker had a
speech impediment. I guess you ought to visit the
country to get a first hand glimpse (or listen) at the
Jpn r.
Oh, a note in passing, I mentioned last time the
Korean "l"... and albeit I'm in a professional
linguist in that I would know all terminology, because
I do not, I do pay attention perhaps to the degree of
a pro linguist to spoken language; and to me, the
Korean "l" as I term it, appears mostly at the end of
words (like "han-gul" or "il-bon") where the "l"
stresses itself throughout the listener's eardrum.
That sound, I for one love.
As the French say, "chacun a son gout"... or as
English-speakers say, "to each his own".
