OK, I lied above, but only because my opinion isn't represented. I don't
doubt English could use a new spelling, but what phonological base should be
standardised. Or would we have several parallel Englishes. We would at least
have to admit spelling variants between "North American English" (NAE) and
"Commonwealth English" (CE).
