OBNatlang: German Pronunciation

My girlfriend is taking german this semester, and
while talking on the phone with her about it, we've
run across some strange pronunciation issues...anyhelp
with these would be appreciated.
First of all, I think her professor is Austrian, since
she mentioned an expression "gru"ss gott" which she
says was used in southern Germany and Austria as a
greeting.
Furthermore my girlfriend pronounces words like:
Tag as /tag/
Abend as /ab@nd/
leid as /lajd/
Ihnen as /ajn@n/
where as i've always said:
/tak/, /ab@nt/, /lajt/, /i:n@n/
My girlfriend says that she's just copying the
professor's pronunciation...so I'm wondering if these
are features of Austrian German
Elliott Lash.
