Language Universals and Linguistic Typology from 1981 (got
it used from the Berkeley linguistics library book sale). I'm now
fairly certain that I actually got the example off a handout I got
in my graduate typology seminar... I think it was not in a paper
by Comrie, but it was in a book chapter in someone else's book
that cited the example *from* Comrie...

It was either Australian or South American. I remember that it
was SVO word order, and that each of the four words in the
four word sentence (which was something like "The boy gave
the girl a book") was very large. I'm not doing anything else
right now; I think I'll actually go ahead and go through all my
old files... If I find it, though, it's going up here. Thank goodness
for the internet! It saves and protects all!
