Bad idea. It would be impossible to follow, especially if threads jump from one list to another. Moreover, most newbies would only subscribe to one list and would miss half of the discussion. That way, we'd have essentially double the message

Something I disagree on. 100 messages per day is largely enough. The traffic on this list is heavy enough. If we doubled it, I'm sure quite a few people (including some who are frequent posters) would have to drop from the list. Anyway, we only ever reach the 100-message limit when the ratio of off-topic/on- topic messages has dramatically increased. So the locking up of the list is a good warning that we are a bit too much into idle chatter :)) . We would put the notice in the list description that

Even with such a notice, most people would join only one list (how many people actually *read* the list description anyway?). The result would be complete chaos and plenty of people not understanding what's going on.
