As Christophe and the website you've quoted have suggested, /o:/ is probably the best vowel, even though /O:/ is the standard.. I'm going to have a listen to recordings of the sounds soon, probably tomorrow when no-one else will be at home to listen to me playing sounds of vowels---not that they don't already know I'm mad, of course.

["r\INk*_O5d] (r\ = alveolar fricative, * = @, _O = rounded, 5 = dark L) (Being more observant of lost L's, I've noticed that perhaps people do lose them a bit, although not nearly /nI:li/ as regularly as you suggest.
