Possibly - tho that would presumably put Pilovese closer to Italian
'piccolino' - there must, presumably, be some reason for Pilovese
keeping /k/ before a front vowel (Or is it, like Sardininan, unaffected
by palatalization of the rest of the Romancelangs?)

Yes - and the Gallo-Italic dialects are just as cool, as IMO is Friulan,
Romansch & other related Retian dialects. Sardinian dialects are even
cooler. In fact, IMO the whole gamut of Romance dialects from Walloon in
the north down to the Sicilian dialects in the south are all interesting
in themselves.

I suppose if you want to add, as it were, another Romance dialect
without replacing one here, you can let Romance spread into a
non-Romance area, e.g. like Brythenig. Then what you're replacing is not
a real-world Romance dialect.
