One of my friends whose parents live in Louisiana was born and
raised in India, but has spoken English his entire life, and is completely
fluent. He has assured me, with only a tad of sarcasm, that the best method
of communicating when trying to get gas in rural areas is some sort of
improvised sign language, because the English they speak is entirely
unintelligible.
