Well, you just *had* to choose that period! :)) The thirteenth century is exactly the one that saw Old French simplify its many consonant clusters (along with its many diphtongues). So the answer is "in some intermediate stage". It just depends from which Old French dialect the word was borrowed from. Note also that the word was "chuquier" in Old French, and that its origin is not clear.
