You're right, the state is usually pronounced differently than the river; I
always get that wrong. And I always want to pronounce Houston Street in New
York City the same way as the city in Texas, and Rodeo Drive the way a Texan
would insist on pronouncing it.

Fuhgeddaboutistan. I'm from Redneckistan myself.
