FWIW, IME, /zn/ > /dn/ only occurs in AAVE in North Carolina, not in
General North Caronlinian. I think. I'll have to listen more carefully.
Speaking of NC, has anyone else noticed the following sound changes?
/o/ > /u/
/E/ > /I/
I often hear locals on the radio talking about /guin hu:m/ after a day at
work, or mentioning the city of /kI:ri/, spelled "Cary". Another example
is a TV commercial for an insurance company (BCBS, maybe?) where
/u:vI:rijIn/ cancer was mentioned.
