Well, I have seen a really cool website somewhere that had pretty close
phonetic IPAs of various people's speech which had someone from Qld using
[o] for /O/, I think. Unfortunately, I can't remember where it was, but I
think I found it through browsing the Yahoo! Linguistics section
(probably in the phonetics area, I guess). The text that they read was:

Please call Stella. Ask her to bring these things with her from the store:
Six spoons of fresh snow peas; faiv thick slabs of blue cheese and maybe a
snack for the brother Bob. We also need a small plastik snake and a big
toy frog for the kids. She kan scoop these things into three red bags and
we wil go meet her Wednesday at tthe train station.

(excuse typos, I was copying it from an IPA transcription of someone from
Birmingham, England which I printed off.)
