Weird. I had heard -- on this very list, no less -- that German front
rounded vowels were exceptionally rounded compared to all the surrounding
languages. This didn't jive with my German lessons in high school, but I
was allowing for the possibility of imperfect tuition, so I said nothing
at the time.
