Re: Describing diphthongs

I recalled seeing diphthongs described on the page for Henrik's S7, and I
found <http://www.theiling.de/projects/s7/s_02.html>. I would've adopted the
descriptions for the diphthong /aj/ and /aw/ ("rising-front diphthong" and
"rising-back diphthong", respectively) except that the diphthongs I need
descriptions of are actually /Aj/ and /Aw/. Tyl Sjok
(<http://www.theiling.de/projects/s2/node4.html>) has so-called palatalized
vowels, which I assume to be the class of diphthongs I need descriptions of,
so I invented the terms "palatalized open back unrounded monophthong" and
"palatalized close-mid back rounded monophthong" for /jA/ and /jo/
respectively. Are these acceptable? And what are terms I could use for /Aj/
and /Aw/?
Thanks,
Trebor
