I'm a bit younger. (16 on nov 17)
Well, many of my aborted conlangs (and don't we all have a thousand of those?)
(and one of my current ones) have been derived from Indo-European, so I have a
vocabulary and morphology to work with, although it doesn't give me everything
and it simply shifts the emphasis to the sound changes to give the language
character. I'm also working on one derived from the nostratic roots I found
somewhere or other... (can't remember a name or url or anything, no time to
check). But otherwise, I just let it flow, use what I feel is right and fits in
with what I've already got. It's impossible for me to make a real a-priori
language. Too much baggage of more-perfect natlangs. (on a side note, I've
begun conlanging in my sleep; at the verge of consciousness, I'll be making
full and clear decisions about verbal morphology).
I just use the clarisworks wordprocessor (I've never bothered to buy a
full-blown wordprocessor, and it came with my first mac. why bother learning
something new when it does all I ever need to do?). No special features, no
alphabetizing or morpheme-recognition (or whatever the heck else wierd features
shoebox offers). But it looks the way I want it to and I understand it. I have
no complaints.
Welcome, anyway, to the ones that speak. Don't always lurk, I'm sure we'd love
to hear from you.
