Like Russian - _nebo_ is 'sky', but _nebesá_ (the theoretical plural, and still the plural in OChSl) is lexicalised to mean "heaven". Also, Welsh _nef_ is 'sky' (incidentally, the words look very much cognate! :-)), and 'heaven' is the plural _nefoedd_. At least it's so in Modern Welsh, in Middle Welsh _nef_ does mean 'heaven' as often as not. I guess both usages are calques from respectively Greek and Latin.
