That's funny! My own father was never surprised by my interest in languages,
although he never knew about my conlanging. He had some moderate interest in it
as well. After he died three years ago in a car accident, me and my brother had
to go through all his stuff. I found a lot about Latin, Greek, and Ancient
Egyptian. Besides, he had created some sort of secret script, inspired mostly
by Greek and Cyrillic, which I had great pleasure to decypher.

Yes, but collecting weird stuff is somehow more generally accepted than
creating worlds and languages.
