My pathology exactly. Perhaps it's symptomatic of conlanging in general?
By "lame", I take it that you mean socially and not physically.
I've given up on normal people. They can just... go away, I guess. To
facilitate this, I occasionally advertise my conlanging. It works half
the time and backfires too often. :))

It's like having an artificial heart. Few realize that they are a part of
linguistic change, and conlanging is not exactly linguistic change. It's
much more direct and complete than that.
