well i'm definitely to the right of the pond, and i
know the term well ( as evidenced by previous missive
). but it could be a scots usage, as my mother's
family is scots and i sometimes find myself using
terms not common in english usage ( 'squint' for
'unlevel' rather than 'wonky' for example )
