And I'll go along with it. I was simply trying to come with some possibilities for explaining its existence.

There are all sorts of sites where information can be found: Gives a little about Yevanic and Italkian (Judeo-Italian), mentions a scholar whose worked on these langs. Basically similar to the Ethnologue entry posted already. Gives a little more info on Judeo-French, Jedeo-Provancal, Judeo_Italian, Yevanis. Some words (in both alphabets) as well as a couple of links. The best page I visited: a paper on midieval Jewry in Italy, linguistic info., texts, bibliography, etc. Steg, you may want to visit these for some ideas. Padraic.
