I suspect that "davenport" is a Dakotas thing. I'm still living in
Minnesota, and whereas I absorbed the word from my mom, I never actually
hear it around me, and I never use it myself. I also have a vague
recollection of hearing "davenport" as being from a particular furniture
manufacturer, but I could have just dreamed that.
