I believe I joined the list about this time as well, so I suppose I must
assume part of the responsibility for the shift also. I remember ignoring
the auxlang threads while being taken in by the Lojban and Klingon threads.
Then suddenly, there seemed to be an influx of artlangers, new sketches
appearing daily. In fact, I can remember feeling that I had died and gone
to conlang heaven. After years of solitary pursuit, I had discovered others
who pursued this art for no other purpose than their personal enjoyment of
it. I also remember Jeffrey Henning "scolding me" because I suggested that
the list took itself too seriously and that we ought to lighten up and enjoy
it more. This was directed more at the serious auxlangers than it was at
Jeffrey and he and I came quite close to meeting over beers to resolve it.
A communications mix-up caused us to miss each other however.
Stay curious,
