The same has been happening to Portuguese, mostly in the fields of computers. New
words were coined from English although there were Portuguese words with that
same meaning. Examples of this are "deletar" from "delete" (instead of
"apagar"), "inicializar" from "initialize" (instead of "iniciar", which is also
shorter), "customizar" from "customize" (instead of "personalizar") etc.
