M2 views messages as XML, formatted according to
$OPERADIR\Styles\mime.css
The relevant section is:

}

Which means presumably it'll display in Courier New so long as you have it
on your system, and only then fall back on the font specified for "CSS
font-family monospace" in the fonts settings.
*changes font to Andale Mono just to see if he can... success!*
