Actually, that one went out in Latin-1, since I didn't have any Unicode characters in it; my mailer uses Latin-1 if it can get away with it (and ASCII if there aren't even any Latin-1 characters in the message). This message will go out as UTF-8, however, thanks to the inclusion of the following Cyrillic: Я не сумашэдший; ну, вот! And now we'll throw in some plain ol' Latin-1 text, which will nevertheless be indecipherable if this message is treated as Latin-1: ¡No soy loco; míralo! -Mark
