Not sure how this could be a hassle :-)
HTML wise I use nothing but Notepad, and I'm completely self-taught.
And during the recent holidays I had the pleasure of teaching a
friend how to code in HTML (she's planning to make a website to
advertise the models of historic towns and so on that she makes
professionally).
