Don't be so sure: I once received an email from someone over my "Entité
Noire" story (which you can read on my website if you have some French
knowledge. The level is not too high). It was a small story I wrote
originally for my school's newspaper, and I never took it really seriously
(I didn't even make the smallest sketch of a conlang for the "words of
power" that are used there. I just invented them on the spot). One day, it
will come back during a cross-over between another of my stories (Rainbow
Fighters, also on my site) and the story of a Quebecois friend of mine, and
that's the only reason I'm keeping it.
However, the guy seemed to believe completely that what I wrote had really
happened, had used the "words of power" with "great success", and was
telling me that I wasn't alone in fighting the "Entité Noire". That kind of
freaked me out (and I never replied). If the guy was pulling my leg, it
wasn't funny. But the tone of the mail was extremely serious.
And then not too long ago I received a mail from a guy thinking that Martin
Defeux, a character from Rainbow Fighters, really existed (actually, he
even addressed that mail to him!). To see how silly it is, Martin is a
character that transforms into the Warrior of Hope called Red Bow, and
along with the other Rainbow Fighters protects the Earth against evil
invaders (the story is an hommage to my favourite anime and now live
action: Sailor Moon ;) ).
Compared to that, taking a webpage about fire-beings for real doesn't sound
that far-fetched ;) .

You need a straight mind to invent a twisted conlang.
