Actually, the lateral click sounds very k-ish to me. And Livagians hear
their nasal lateral click [N^||], /lx/, as the nasal counterpart of the
ejective [k'], /k/, just as [N], /nq/, is the nasal counterpart of
pulmonic [g], /g/.
I seem to remember students mixing them in ear-training exercises, too.
