In Watakassí, one way would be: Fapisitaswidansagáutu púpisalav (wonderful example of incorporation) [fApiSitaswidansagAotu pupisalav] Fa-pisi-ta-swidan-saga'-u-tu p-u'pisala-v Past-know.how-language.of-Sweden-speak-I-inceptive G7-Uppsala-LOC Literally "I started to know how to speak the Language of Sweden in Uppsala" I'm not sure how to use the verb pyasún (learn) in this case. It's a toughie. One would have to say "I learned HOW TO SPEAK Swedish in Uppsala", and I don't know how to deal with verbal objects of that verb or verbs of its class. If I figure it out, I'll post the translation.

I suspect that when I figure out the proper translation, it'll be just as long. :-) Part of the reason it's so long is you use some long affixes, like -caððy for accusative and -tasty for past. -- "Old linguists never die - they just come to voiceless stops." - anonymous http://members.tripod.com/~Nik_Taylor/X-Files http://members.tripod.com/~Nik_Taylor/Books.html ICQ: 18656696 AIM Screen-Name: NikTailor
