It's very hard to observe one's one normal (non-careful) speech, but I think in mine /f/ and /v/ are both voiceless, but /f/ is tense and /v/ is lax. Same for /s/ and /z/, especially initially. ObConlang: we had loads of fun with that in the role-playing campaign, when a character from a region where /v/ is very much voiced came to a region where it's only lax, and protested that his name _Vurian_ was pronounced as what he understood as Faurn.
