Unfortunately, the increasingly reactionary state of Texas just
passed a "Defense of Marriage" bill that denies recognition to
same-sex marriages or domestic partnerships legal in other
states (I was down at the Lege protesting this one when it was
in committee -- pretty big turnout on both sides).

The conservatives talk about family values, and in the same
breath deny basic legal equalities to gay parents and foster
parents.  Grrrr....
