Naturally, these are the trolls that the folk who inspired this
thread, over on alt.fan.pratchett where I spend most of my Internet
time, have in mind by default.
As for the ogre/fishing distinction, the English expression has come
about because a pun on the two meanings exists; therefore there's a
lot of flexibility in how to translate the expression to other
languages (literally or otherwise).
