What, precisely, is muta cum liquida? (I know it's Latin, and I know
Latin, but by education extends only so far.)
And drat! I just finished about a month ago reading _The Hobbit_, _LOTR_,
*and* _The Silmarillion_ aloud to my 8yo daughter and 6.5yo son, and now I
find out that I may have been misprounoucing some of the names. I was
trying to be *so* careful not to do that!
(The result of reading these books aloud to them is that my children are
now complete Tolkein geeks. When I bought my daughter an inexpensive
little stick horse, she named it Asfaloth, and she gallops around the house
on it crying "Noro lim, Asfaloth!" My son already had a stick horse named
Spirit, and he would run around the house shouting "Noro lim, Spirit," much
to my musband's and my amusement. I almost offered to translate Spirit's
name into Elvish for him so he didn't sound so silly.)
