I'd say two syllables, but I guess it depends on how finnishized one's pronounciation is. A totally "unafflicted" swede would probably have three syllables. I find no [e}] diphtong in any local dialect either, so pronouncing it as one syllable's probably due to finnish influence. (Oh, btw, I still have problems with left and right (noticed when I was reading a roadmap and never got it right...) so it took a while to figure out where a lefbaltican is from... lol.)
