Exactly.  Not that I'm against reduplication, any more than I am against
using the letter 'k' in a language -- it just depends on the effect I'm
trying to achieve.  Dublex uses 'c' for /k/, for instance, because I want
its words to have what Leo Moser calls a "prestige orthography".  I think
reduplication is perceived by speakers of Western languages as unrefined and
less civilized -- emotional reactions to a linguistic phenomenon, but there
you have it.  Now reduplication is something I will probably use in my
sketch language Kalisise (http://www.langmaker.com/kalisise.htm), probably
as an intensive.
