Well, it *could*, but it would sound weird in this particular
context, since it implies 'not even one'. So it's not really
one star the poem talks about, but *no* stars. So gramatically
it could be, but it'd probably not be understood... I just
read the poem and the weirdness of the sentence practically
jumped at me. It's difficult to explain to a non-native speaker.
