Thanks, Jeffrey. I can only echo your words. I am merely an
ordinary U.S. citizen but I treasure the bond and partnership
between us and Great Britain. It's a comfort to know that we have
such a faithful partner in this world of terror and unrest.
I was born the year before WWII. My father was in the navy, a Pearl
Harbor survivor, who served in the Pacific theater. But I had an
aunt in the WAF who served in Great Britain. She often spoke of the
courage of the British whom she knew.
I was in Trinidad on vacation on 9/11. It was an unnerving
experience not to be able to return to the U.S. until several days
after my scheduled return.
I have remembered the deceased and their families in my prayers.
