Impossible, plain and simple:
"The Irish [1] of the time of the famous but entirely mythical Tain Bo
Cuailnge were deficient in several vital respects. Viz. [2] they all
lived in Bogs and wore no clothes; they were not CofE and they had
not yet considered joining the British Empire [3]. These rather
crippling factors, i.e., being Scots [4] were enough to compel them to
withdraw from History until they were able to come up with a better
answer."
So you see, since the Irish had no History to speak of, they couldn't
possibly have partaken in an utterly historical "1066-style" story.
[1] I.e., Scots.
[2] I.e., viz.
[3] Vid. "The Irish Question"
[4] I.e., Irish.
Padraic.
Oh, yes, [NB: For "Scots", read "Irish" and vice versa]
